The doctor comes to your home.

Life Primary Care is a house call practice. There is no clinic to drive to, no parking garage and no waiting room. We bring primary care to your living room.

Medicare and most major insurance accepted. No travel fee.

House call doctor, visiting physician, mobile doctor, in-home primary care: different names, one thing. A clinician who comes to you.

Three steps, no waiting room

Getting care at home is simpler than getting to an appointment.

Step 1

Call us

Tell us what is going on and where you live. We confirm your insurance on the phone, before anyone books anything.

Step 2

We come to you

A clinician arrives at your door with a portable exam kit and your chart already open. Visits run 45 to 60 minutes.

Step 3

We keep following up

Prescriptions, labs, referrals and the next visit are arranged before we leave. Results come back by phone, not a portal.

Who we see

Home based primary care is built for people for whom leaving the house is the hardest part of getting care. It is also for anyone who would simply rather not spend a morning in a waiting room.

  • Seniors and older adults who no longer drive
  • People recovering from surgery or a hospital stay
  • Patients living with dementia, for whom a clinic is frightening
  • Homebound patients, and anyone with mobility limits, oxygen or a wheelchair
  • Families arranging care for an elderly parent, often from out of state
  • Families whose caregiver cannot take another day off work
  • Busy adults who want primary care that fits around a workday

What families say

Public reviews of Life Medical on Google, in the reviewer's own words. Life Medical runs several services at home, so some describe a visiting clinician and some describe in-home imaging.

Life Medical has at home care for my elderly mom. The team is very responsive, thoughtful and patient. I highly recommend!

Lisa G.Google review

My mom was able to get a chest x-ray at home with a prescription her primary care doctor faxed over. They came out for the x-ray the same day which is quite impressive. True was very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. We were able to catch her pneumonia and start treatment on time. I highly recommend this service!

I can’t thank Mia enough. She is always on point, incredibly compassionate, and consistently shows genuine concern. She’s always ready to offer support, encouragement, and a helping hand.

April D.Google review, quoted in part

I don’t believe I’ve ever left a review for an urgent care before—but then again, this experience was unlike anything we’ve ever had.

I have had a great experience with life Medical in regards to caring for my dad. Mia and Kym have been instrumental in making sure that my dad receives the care that he needs.

Missy L.Google review

I have had a positive experience working with Mia. She is consistently communicative, often sending texts to check in, which I find very helpful. Her responses are quick, making it easier to stay updated on my mom's well-being. Overall, I appreciate her attentiveness and support.

Tracey M.Google review

Absolutely outstanding service!! These guys climbed up four flights of stairs with heavy equipment to make sure we were able to get a much-needed x-ray. True, our radiologist, was upbeat and super professional.

Christa V.Google review, quoted in part

True was very professional and took my tests in a very comfortable way.

Carole P.Google review

I had a pregnancy related concern and needed an ultrasound asap. I cannot say enough about the five star service I received .

Common questions

Do I ever have to come to an office?

No. Life Primary Care is a house call practice. Every visit happens where you live, whether that is a private home, an apartment, a family member's house or an assisted living residence.

Is a house call as thorough as an office visit?

For primary care, yes, and often more so. A home visit runs 45 to 60 minutes and lets the clinician see your stairs, your bathroom setup and every medication bottle in the house. Anything that genuinely needs hospital equipment gets referred, exactly as it would from a clinic.

Do you charge extra to travel to my home?

No. There is no travel fee, concierge fee or membership charge. The visit is billed to your insurance the same way a clinic visit would be.

Do I have to be homebound to be a patient?

No. Many patients simply prefer care that fits around a workday or a caregiving schedule. You do not need to be homebound to book a house call.

Do you take Medicare?

Yes. We accept Original Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans, along with major commercial insurers. Call 973-607-4911 and we will check your specific plan before the first visit.

How soon can someone come out?

New patient visits are usually scheduled within a few business days. Established patients can often be seen the same day for an urgent problem.

Can you draw blood and run tests at home?

Yes. We bring phlebotomy, EKG, urine testing and point-of-care testing to the home, and we arrange mobile X-ray and ultrasound when they are needed.

Is a visiting physician the same as a house call doctor?

Yes. House call doctor, visiting physician, mobile doctor, mobile physician, in-home primary care and home based primary care all describe the same thing: a clinician who comes to where you live instead of you travelling to an office. Life Primary Care is all of those.

Do you see homebound seniors?

Yes, and homebound patients are a large part of the practice. It is worth knowing that you do not have to be homebound to be seen: the homebound requirement belongs to the Medicare home health benefit, not to a physician house call.

Do you visit assisted living and senior residences?

Yes. We visit private homes, apartments, condominiums, a family member's house, independent living and assisted living residences across our six counties.
